It was a splendid morning out on the hill. Moral of the story - get out into the Yorkshire Dales EARLY!

Dave & me on Ingleborough before the masses get there!
1st March 2007: I set off alone to walk from Land's End to John O'Groats; a LEJOG of 1,687 miles, taking me four months. I walked in memory of my father, Jeff Sloman, and raised over £6,000 for Sue Ryder Care. I posted to the blog every day of the walk. This blog lets you know how it all went and what I have been up to subsequently. Thanks for dropping in. Please feel free to make comments.

Hi Hope you are well?
ReplyDeleteLast weekend some work colleagues and I took in Pen Y Gent, Whernside and Ingleborough and I was thoroughly impressed with Ingleborough. Not least because it marked the end of a very long day but also the ascent from The Hill Inn and the descent into Horton in ribblesdale is absolutely stunning (in the evening sunshine at least)!
How are the Challenge preparations going?
Hello there, TDA. I am jolly well afer a bit of fresh air 'up north'.
ReplyDeleteI love the 'airy' quality of Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-Gent: They soar above the surrounding big, empty landscapes. In the evening, the slanting sunlight displays every rib and knucle in the structure of the land beneath.
A great place.
