Bits of Mickle Fell are inside the reserve, though, plus the army training range and a "sporting" estate belonging to the Bowes-Lyon clan - all overlapping each other in a complex way. The muir burn is still shameful, though, as are the estate tracks, new shooting boxes and all those traps. And it all leads to grouse overcrowding and lots and lots of rabbits and loss of what appeared at least to be a little bit of wilderness.Mike Knipehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12792636586674245725noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22496677.post-20106902001446096992016-04-30T21:10:49.870+01:002016-04-30T21:10:49.870+01:00Grouse shooting should be regarded by society as w...Grouse shooting should be regarded by society as worse than bear baiting - at least the bear survived! We stopped sticking children up chimneys years ago. We stopped fox hunting with dogs. Why on earth do we let moneyed tossers murder birds for fun?

Looks like we had a good time, eh? You obviously were not in my head! It was unrelentingly ghastly.
