  1. Hi Alan,

Congratulations on finishing your route. As it happens, I finished mine today also. The last few days have involved putting markers on the PDA maps every quarter-mile approx. I'm thinking that the PDA mapping is going to be quite interesting. As discussed before, when you zoom out, you can't read much - you can only clearly view when zoomed in to a pretty local area. It'll help to have the next waypoint pretty close to know where to aim for.

I've also been marking up the maps with messages to myself at various points, like "Carry 3 day's food and water, good batteries and working GPS".

I still have to figure out how best to carry the PDA. It must come easily to hand, not get dropped, and stay dry. Any ideas?

    Regards!
    Daryl

  2. Hi Daryl

It feels like a major achievement finishing the route! Just the food and accommodation to work out now...

You could try putting your PDA in an Ortlieb document bag and hang it round your neck. The document bag is about 6 1/2" wide x 8" long and comes with a neck string.

It would be a good idea to put a bag of those gel beads in there to keep it moisture free as well (remembering to dry the gel bag out each night)

    All the best
    Alan
