Latest 'LEJOGers' News!

Well its all happening on the LEJOG (Land's End to John O'Groats) front at the moment:
Daryl May (who is actually doing a JOGLE) has Scotland behind him now, still not having met up with Pete who kept colouring his bath water and is now safe in the womb of Englandshire and upping his mileage. If you discount the two weeks off in Tain, recovering from an appalling underfoot blister, he is bang on schedule. He has met up with celebrities en route; Ian (a double LEJOGer) and Gavin (A TGO Challenge stalwart) who have both supported him with wonderful kindnesses.

Gayle & Mick have less than three weeks to go now. Their maps and accommodation are all sorted, they have had press interviews, video podcasts made and they have published their gear lists (a 'must' for gear heads). Their sponsorship is doing really well for Macmillan Cancer Support but could do a whole lot better if you were to pop over to their site and sponsor them for this worthwhile cause - think of it as a donation for all the entertainment to come as they blog their way up Britain.

But now there is a new kid on the block! Chris Berry writes very well indeed and he is due to set off in May from Land's End to walk his LEJOG. He is a fit young bloke and found himself at work, staring out over the industrial estate and idling lorries to the green hills beyond and slowly a plan came together. His is a walk of about 11oo miles, following a route broadly similar to that of the excellent Mark Moxon. This really is a good read and thoroughly entertaining.

I have included a link to his blog in my 'Great Places to Visit' to the right of this blog.

  1. Hi Alan,

Thanks for the kind words matey, its great to see the LEJOG'ing community supporting one another with this crazy obsession of ours.

I'm actually no stranger to this fine little blog of yours and your own tails from the trail were one of the inspirations for the planning of my own jaunt this summer. That said, my particular route is going to be somewhat more direct than yours but kudos to you for taking a challenge of this magnitude and going the extra mile (or 500).

Best wishes also to Gayle and Mick who appear to be far more organised than I know I shall be with 3 weeks to go. I hope everything goes smoothly with your final preparations and best of luck to the pair of you. If you could just be so kind as to leave a trail of breadcrumbs behind you as you go I know my navigation skills will be exceedingly grateful ;)

Anyhow, keep up the good work with the blogging Alan and I'll be sure to stop by again real soon.

    Cheerio,

    Chris

  2. Well found Alan, that's another blog I'll be avidly reading while I'm trying to avoid writing my own.

Good luck to Gayle, Mick and Chris - as an ex JOGLEr I expect I will be feeling very jealous as your posts appear.
