Norrie, earlier this year
Alan Anderson emailed me this morning with some very sad news. Norrie Melrose passed away in the early hours this morning after a short illness.
Alan & Norrie were regular partners for many years on the TGO Challenge and to me, they epitomised everything that was good about the Challenge.
Norrie, TGO Challenge, 2005, Tarfside.
My best wishes go out to Norrie’s family and also to Alan, who I know will miss his friend enormously.
The loss of a friend, and a kindred spirit, is a tough thing to take...
ReplyDeleteI feel as though I recognise Norrie. Maybe our paths crossed on some hillside and we passed the time of day.
ReplyDeleteCondolences to all of his family and friends.
Norrie was a gentle, caring soul, a very knowledgeable man who'll be missed by all those Challengers his presence touched.
ReplyDeleteI understand from Uncle Roger that his funeral will be at 11am on Friday at St Michael's Church, Linlithgow.
Unfortunately it was quite a long drawn out battle against cancer, but as always Norrie was very understated and did not broadcast his problems. As others have said he will be sadly missed. A genuine Challenger who definitely walked the walk.
ReplyDeleteGrumpy.
