Make Someone Happy. A post for Anonymous

It’s Christmas. It’s so important to make someone happy and I’m a generous fellow. So, following the comment made on my previous post I decided to proudly display my new award. You can find it over on the right of the blog as well.

vilerosette

Not being a chap to do things by half measures, I have allowed myself the luxury of a certificate as well. Thank you, Anonymous. You’ve made me so happy.

For music lovers, here’s Schnozzle’s take on it.

  1. Vile, eh ? That's not a word that was often heard in the sort of pubs i used to frequent.

    1. Could it be a journalistic sort of comment?
Just a thought. Mind you, all the journos I ever met were usually slumped in the corner of a cosy boozer .

  2. A well deserved accolade, Sir! And, with no canvassing for votes on your part either, which makes the award a genuine reflection of merit over the meretricious. :-)

    1. You are a sweet thing, Lord Elpus.
I'll have you know I've worked long and hard for this award - this place has been banging on about all sorts of shit for over eight years now...
Just think what I could have done with that time... the mountains unclimbed, wine undrunk, songs not sung.
      *sigh*

  3. I'm sorry Alan but I have to ask, did you rig your vote? ;-)

    Merry Xmas!

    1. Now listen here, Stuppley Chap!
There's been no gerrymandering of votes here Sir! No lobbying of single-sex groups. NO Sir! Thus has been hard won - and I've been wonderfully oblivious of it. Mind you... these days I'm oblivious to most things...

    1. Hello, Anon.
You say all the sweetest things that you know will turn a gurl on.
I shall now go out to buy the last of Waitrose's petit fours, some ribbons to tie in my hair and the best Camden backpack that money can possibly buy with the proceeds from this year's blog adverts.
      Pip pip!

    1. Village Blogger - that's not a homophobic smear, I Hope? I've been smeared with a lot of stuff but that would be a new one!
      :-)
Cheers Ian - unfortunately I'm working on two wind-related posts at the moment. They're complicated as they involve maps and a fair bit of digging about on the net for all the information. Something for between Christmas and the New Year.

Have a good Christmas yourself, sir!

  6. Methinks, He doth protest too much????
(Sorry misquote of "The lady doth protest too much, methinks".)
Who is Alan Sloman? My first impressions, having been subjected to one of his temper tantrums. He came across as a very unpleasant, aggressive bully, why did he come across this way because I did not agree with his point of view.
Little wonder that someone would want to be "Anonymous" if they thought they would bring down the wrath of him and his supporters.
Anonymity (secret ballot) is one of the pillars of our democracy. So that people might vote without fear.

    1. Hi Richard

Unfortunately you have me at a disadvantage, Sir. I have no idea who you are and no recollection of having had any discussion with you. "Temper tantrums... a very unpleasant aggressive bully... Wowza!

However, if you feel you had the rough end of the stick from me, it's probably because you stuck to an untenable position. I really don't like people who can't back up their arguments. They're fair game for a mauling.

As to wanting to stick to anonymity - well that's fine in an election Sir - but this isn't an election - it's my blog - my personal space. Anonymity on here is rank cowardice, unless someone has a genuine reason to remain incognito. You will have seen that I publish all comments (as long as they are legal) and am quite happy to publish yours.

So - what were we discussing that has stuck so indelibly in your mind? Fascinated!

    2. We need a name for Alan's supporters - The Slomanites sounds a bit biblical. I quite like the sound of the Slomanistas; it has a subversive ring to it.

    3. Supporters, Sir? Don't you realise I am a "very unpleasant, aggressive bully!" and the "vilest blogger of the year?"

I wouldn't go around associating yourself with the likes of me, Sir! You might bring down the "wrath of Richard Sagar and his supporters!

  7. Tut Tut Mr Sloman, and here I am writing a second part of my summer blog, where upon your good self and two or three others, were going to get a well deserved mention, which I refer to in part 1. Re your windfarm campaigns over the past year, now that this has reared it's ugly head my fear is that I may be implicating myself in support of your major part in blogger gate. Having carefully taken all other factors into consideration I shall go ahead with my original draft, and as a bonus I would personally like to award you with my Spoof of the Year award for your publication of the revised edition of the TGO, which in my opinion and others was a magnificent piece of work. Please continue your forthright views and comments for the coming year and have a pleasant Christmas and New year to you and yours ;) ;) ;)

    1. Now then, Mr B!
You are your own man, Sir. Repeat after me "I am my own man, Sir!"
Looking forward to your post - Love the olive-brown Trailstar shot in the snow.
The TGO Cover. Yes - I shall thank my Graphic Design team for you, Sir. All the elves beavering away in the workshop. I have to throw them a bone from time-to-time, along with the team of ghost-writers and photographers...
      :-)
      Have a good Christmas, Robert.

  8. I now see the error of my ways. What I've been doing (simpleton that I am) is visiting and revisiting blogs I enjoy reading, leaving the odd comment along the way; and occasionally even a comment that wasn't particularly odd.

In future I intend to seek out those blogs I really don't much care for and then wind myself up into a state of self-induced outrage by returning to them on a regular basis. Seems like a plan; I'll blog about how it goes.

    1. My old mate Mick Coady once said to me, as we were knee deep in a very cold bog in snowstorm and I was yelling "Yes! bring it on!..." "Sloman - You know what your problem is? You're wired up wrong."
I have the distinct impression that the same electrician had a hand in our wiring looms, Dave.
      Have a good Christmas, Sir.

  9. I can truthfully say that I am NOT & NEVER WILL BE an Alan Sloman Supporter nor a Groupie (OH GOD FORBID)

On some things we agree 100%
    On others we disagree 100%

    Is he a friend though?

I would really like to think so.

Will I support him? Sometimes & Sometimes NOT

Whatever the case he is entitled to his opinion!

He is as entitled as others that don't agree.
Just as they are entitled to their opinion.
This is what makes this such a good place to agree/disagree

But please, at least when you comment, have the moral gumption to say who you are.

    Isn't democracy wonderful

Consider the alternative society where you would be arrested and beaten or far far worse for not agreeing.

You think he is a GOD amongst men, you will be published!

You think he is a **** and the SCUM of the Earth

    You will be published!

    MUCH RESPECT!

But NEVER EVER expect him to roll over and accept it!

After all, he is the VILEST and MOST FOUL BLOGGER of 2014

    He can prove it!

    HE HAS AN AWARD!!!!!!!!

Ah - looking at the time stamp, I think Christmas must have interfered with it!
