Test Post 4

I am using this post to try out Google's own Blogger software to post to the blog, as Microsoft Live Writer appears to have died a horrible death and refuses to allow me to post after I had compiled a lengthy post. This post may well go through a number of iterations as I get the hang of using this crappy software.

If anyone can shed any light on how to make Live Writer work again, please leave a comment, as this present arrangement is quite frankly, rubbish.

  1. I just had to go and write a blog post just to see if WLW had stopped working for me again. With a sigh of relief, mine is working fine today.

    1. I've been doing a bit of digging about. It seems that Live Writer doesn't like Microsoft Vista. I'm doomed.

    2. Mate.. No one in their right mind like Microsoft Vista.
It was the worst OS ever released.
You need to update that bugger big time to anything really.
      DOS 5 would be better.

    3. I quite like it.
It never crashes. It does exactly what it says on the tin.
It is the Vista for Business edition, bought in Feb '07.

  2. I don't know anything about the software, being a dinosaur and all that. Just very glad to see you are still with us!

  3. WLW stopped working towards the end of May and stopped working complexly for about a fortnight but Google undid whatever they'd done to stop it working. To restart it, I re-installed Windows Live and lowered the anti-virus protection on Google since this was still preventing a connection. Unfortunately, due to senility I can't remember exactly what I did, but JJ, Martin and other buggers..apols, Bloggers, must have done the same, soooo.....

    1. Thanks for that Mike. Micros$ft don't want me to download the latest Live Writer as I have their Windows Vista operating system. It appears they don't want to do the work on an "old" operating system.
      Bastards.

    1. You may have well caught a fraction of my frustration, Trevor. My desk now has bite marks.

    1. Turning it on and off? I haven't tried that. However, it has been well & truly kicked.

    1. That's okay. Don't worry about me. It's like Eeyore's Gloomy Place: Rather Boggy and Sad.

  8. What you need, is a balloon

    1. Even a broken balloon, and an empty Hunny Jar, of course, to put it in.

  9. There's a surprising number of people seem to have been hitting difficulties of late, and on a variety of platforms and operating systems. I've had problems using Blogger on an iMac running OS X 10.6, both of them (the machine and the OS) about 5 years old, which is probably considered ancient in technology terms.

I think it's the opening shots in an attempt to coerce us into either all using the same version of Windows, conforming web browsers and no computers pre 2013. Either that or they're trying to stem the flow of subversive comments about energy companies, politicians and wealthy landowners

    1. From what I've been reading, Microsoft don't want you to have your own software any more - they want you to rent it, or some such nonsense, from them on the web.
      Can this be true?
Have they lost their tiny minds?
Or was this all a bad dream.
I've just spent a day writing a new blog post using Bl**dy Blogger, that would have taken me an hour using Live Writer.
      Harrumph!

Hi.
