I’M JUST GOING OUTSIDE…

Titus going outside

…and may be some time.

What with moving home, marital changes and the Grandad thing, there hasn’t been a whole lot of ‘outside’ going on here at the blog for a while. That’s not very good for a blog supposedly about the Great Outdoors. (I think that’s where it started, at least… but you don’t come here for all that nonsense, surely?) But if you do, every now and then have unhealthy desires for lung-fulls of fresh air, boot-fulls of peaty water and nostrils full of midges, then this blog might be just the place to visit in the upcoming posts! I do so hope I have fibbed about the midges, though…

*drumroll*…..

I am off to foreign parts tomorrow to try out a hitherto little-known walk. Well, when I say ‘foreign’ the parts are not exactly “Johnny Foreigner” foreign: In fact the natives speak the King’s English. Very well, I believe. Indeed, there should be no need to stand at full height at the bar and demand “GIN AND TONIC, PLEASE!” very slowly and loudly to order one’s snifters.

No, Gentle Sir and Kind Lady: I am off to somewhere Jolly Civilised – And the capitals are rather important here.

Next stop, Gatwick Airport, tomorrow!

I’ll be back soon with thrilling tales of men shirts and the like.

  1. I know what you mean about lack of outdoorsy activities of late - had exactly the same problem myself!

Anyway, I hope your trip proves enjoyable. Have a good time and let us know how you got on when you get back.

I may have to cure my laggardly behaviour in much the same way!

  2. Have a great time, Alan. Don't forget to fill in that application form from October's TGO Mag before you go....

  3. Sorry to hear you've been having a tough time, Alan.

I hope you enjoy your break.

Look on the bright side, when you return it will September, and the midges should be clearing off until next year.

  4. I've had a bit of the same problem myself.. Tough to find outdoor related things to write about when you're "society locked" :) Luckily, even outdoors people are interested in at least some other things :)

  5. I am back now from "abroad" and the photos are having clever things done to them in baths of chemicals, being bathed in red light and then being hung up on clothes pegs in the broom cupboard... ready to be stuck down onto their mounts on the blog.

    More soon!
