"ooh! You are awful, but I like you!" Cat Stevens / Yusuf Islam does have one hell of a voice though... I knew gurls who would go weak at the knees listening to him... ;-)
It wasn't that she wasn't worth listening to Alan. I enjoyed her songs as well. But you put Mr Stevens up there as well, and he was just............. better.
Well I liked Ane Brun. I don't have the Cat Stevens history. I know Peace Train, but mostly as a cover version - by 10,000 Maniacs I think. I was thinking that Saccharine Trust did it too, but that was Peace Frog, which is The Doors and completely beside the point...I'll stop rambling there.
The only reason I know of Cat Stevens is because he publicly called for the death of Salman Rushdie, on television, in the presence of the Metropolitan Police Commissioner (or somesuch fellow) and managed to not get arrested... must be doing something right! Must be my yoofullness, eh.
I enjoyed the beautiful Ane Brun! Didn't listen to the songs though, what are they like?
Well, I'm old enough to remember Cat Stevens in his heydays of Tea & Teaser and still young enough to appreciate Ane Brun as well as her music :). Good stuff!
Hi. Because of spammers, I moderate all comments, so don't worry if your comment seems to have disappeared; It has been sent to me for approval. As soon as I see it, I'll deal with it straight away. Thank you!
Cat Stevens by any other name.
ReplyDeleteHe always held a good tune!
Aye. The lad done good.

I actually prefer his voice now.
DeleteI liked the blues one best.
I enjoyed that one - the two contrasting styles. A side of the man I hadn't seen before.
Delete'Tea for the tillerman' was, for a while, the album of choice for young chaps fraudulently trying to convince a lass that they had a sensitive side.
ReplyDeleteObviously I would never have stooped to such insincerity myself but I could name some of those who did.

No one seems to have enjoyed the gorgeous Ane Brun though. She's Norwegian, you know...

Not knowing Cat Stevens... Ah. That'll be your yoofullness, then.
Delete10,000 who? Saccharine what?
The Doors - yes. I recognise them.
The age gap. Wonderful. Now I am rambling, so I'll stop too.
