Remembrance Sunday

Almost without fail, every year I watch Remembrance Day from London. Disappointingly, it looks like this has been scaled right back this year.

  1. You turn splendidly to music for your anti-war statements which I applaud. I think of Catch 22, and very much Slaughterhouse Five.

    1. There is another Dougie Maclean song, titled simply 'War' which brilliantly encapsulates much of the futility...

"Is it for freedom or is it for truth
That fathers fall and all those young men trade their youth?
And the desert's burning their faces pale
For there's no returning with some golden holy grail..."

Stay safe, all who pass this way.

    2. Hi Conrad

I watched the Remembrance Day programme at the Cenotaph after I got in yesterday evening. Even with the vastly reduced numbers it still worked for me. The commentary was useful but I can't help feeling that it would be better without.

    3. Hi Dave.

Thank you for that - I've now added it to the post, Sir.
      Cheers,
      Alan
